The City of Visalia Animal Care Center is located at 29016 Highway 99. (Google Map) This is a brand new, modern facility, which houses both Animal Control & Animal Shelter staff. The Center is able to hold over 100 dogs & 100 cats at any one time and is the major holding facility for lost or stray pets in Visalia and Dinuba as well.

We do this to prevent the expense and suffering caused to both humans and pet animals due directly and indirectly to animal bites, and neglect of proper basic pet ownership responsibilities. Our goal is to ensure public health, safety, and animal welfare in our community.

Information on Surrendering Cats

Due to the request for further information on policy and procedures surrounding cats, we will be revising this portion of the website. Thank you for your patience as we work on this, as we'll be adding new tabs into the menu.

While we are under construction, please note the following regarding cats:

    • Cats are accepted on Thursdays from 12 - 6 p.m. and Sundays from 12 -5 p.m. for residents of the City of Visalia
    • We ask that the cat be in a cat trap, one cat per trap for the safety of staff to easily transfer the cat from one cage to another cage (less handling= less stress for the cat)
    • Citizens are to trap cats on their own property ONLY
    • Cat traps are available for rent at our facility $30 deposit in addition to a $10 rental fee per week
    • Provide ID for proof of residence
