It's the most wonderful time of the year, it's the holiday season in Visalia!

Our gift to you is a full calendar of Christmas Fun and holiday happenings, there is is something for everyone.

From a Christmas market, free activities to classes and our Deck the Home submissions, voting and map, our Christmas calendar is packed!

November Events

  • Friday, November 21: Deck the Home Opens! Everyone is invited to join in the fun of this citywide decorating contest, as Visalians nominate their own homes for consideration. Fill our your form to have your home in the online judging and interactive Deck the Home map! Deadline to submit your home is Sunday, December 7, Deck the Home is completely free. Details at www.visalia.gov/DeckTheHome
  • Sunday, November 30: PAL Christmas Tree Lighting at 6 p.m. at Lincoln Oval Park. Enjoy free hot chocolate and cookies, kid's crafts and a visit with Santa Claus!

  • Monday, December 1: Candy Cane Lane Parade at 6:30 p.m. in downtown Visalia. Find all the details from Downtown Visalians here.
  • Friday, December 5: Jingle Jamboree from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Anthony Community Center. Step into the sparkle of the season! Enjoy hands-on holiday crafts, cookie decorating and family-friendly games and activities. Pre-registration required, $2 per person. Sign-up online here.
  • Saturday, December 6: Christmas at the Plaza from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come down to Garden Street Plaza in downtown Visalia and enjoy free train rides, pictures with Santa, kids crafts and make-and-take activities, free cocoa and coffee and a Christmas market!   • Saturday, December 6: Stuff the SWAT Truck from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Target on 3308 N. Dinuba Blvd. Help our Visalia Police Department SWAT collect toys to make a child's holiday a little brighter with this toy drive. Donations should be new and unwrapped and will be provided to Toys for Tots.
  • Sunday, December 7: Deck the Home Submission Deadline! Everyone is invited to join in the fun of this citywide decorating contest, as Visalians nominate their own home for consideration. Houses, apartments, condos, neighborhoods and businesses are all eligible, as long as decorations can be viewed from the street. Deadline to submit your home is 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, December 7!   • Monday, December 8: Festive Card Crafting from 1 - 2 p.m. at the Visalia Senior Center. Register now for this 50 and better class, where you can craft personalized holiday cards to share with friends and loved ones. Create, socialize and spread holiday cheer through heartfelt, handmade cards. Pre-registration is required, cost is $3 per person, sign-up here.
  • Monday, December 8: Wreath Making from 6 - 7:30 p.m. at the Visalia Senior Center. Register now and step-up your seasonal decor game! Create a bold, modern wreath using unique materials, rich textures and vibrant colors. A fun, hands-on workshop that blends creativity, style and seasonal flair! Pre-registration is required, cost is $35.00 per person, sign-up here. 
  • Tuesday, December 9: Adaptive Visits with Santa from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Visalia Senior Center. Families are invited to a cozy, 30-minute holiday session designed for children on the autism spectrum or with other special needs. Participants will enjoy a gentle, joyful visit with Santa Clause in a supportive setting. Families are welcome to attend, with a maximum of four children per family.   • Friday, December 12: Visalia Transit Movie Night at the Fox with "The Polar Express." More details to come, this event is completely free and features photos with Santa Clause!
  • Friday, December 12: Deck the Home Interactive Map Goes Live! ...and winners are announced! Now it's time to check out themap and drive around Visalia and enjoy an easy way to find the best decorated homes in the city. Once live, the map will be available at www.visalia.gov/DeckTheHome
  • Saturday, December 13: Gingerbread House Workshop from 4 - 5:30 p.m. Register now for up to four participants who will team up in this instructor-led gingerbread house building and decorating class. It's a fun, festive activity perfect for families and friends to get creative and celebrate the holiday together. $50 for up to four people, pre-registration required.

Register now for this 50 and better class where participants will enjoy a fun, social crafting experience as they create beautiful holiday jars, perfect for gifting to friends and family. Pre-registration is required, $3 per person, sign-up here. 
  • Tuesday, December 16: Holiday Family Night from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Whitendale Community Center. Families are invited for a festive night of holiday crafts, games, songs and snowy fun! Come dressed for the season, each family receives a digital seasonal portrait. $5 per person, pre-registration is required, sign-up here.

  • Friday, December 29: Senior Christmas Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Visalia Senior Center. For those 50 and better, enjoy a traditional holiday meal, seasonal music, and cheerful decorations! This annual celebration brings friends and community together to share laughter, stories and the magic of the season! Pre-registration is required, dine-in and to-go orders both accepted, meal prices vary, sign up here or contact the Visalia Senior Center at (559) 713-4381.
