The City of Visalia Parks and Recreation Department invite the community to mark their calendars and be ready to “Fall in Love with Visalia” this November with a special series of free, family-friendly events.
“These events celebrate our city’s stories, spaces, and spirit,” shares Holly Ellis, Recreation Supervisor. “From live history performances and walking tours, to an outdoor movie night under the stars, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!”
Fall in love with Visalia at these upcoming events:
Tales from the Tomb – Pioneers, Neighbors and Everyday Heros, Saturday, November 1, 10 a.m. Visalia Public Cemetery, 1300 W. Goshen Ave., Visalia
Experience Visalia’s past like never before! Written by Dallas Pattee and brought to life by talented local actors, this live performance shares the real stories of individuals laid to rest in the Visalia Public Cemetery. In partnership with the Tulare County Historical Society, audiences will hear captivating tales of triumph, hardship, and legacy that shaped our community. Sponsored by the Visalia Public Cemetery, this event promises an and unforgettable journey through history.
Downtown Then & Now – Every Corner Tells a Story, Saturday, November 8, 10 a.m., Garden Street Plaza, 101 S. Garden St., Visalia
Take a stroll through time with this guided downtown walking tour, led by local historian, Terry Ommen. Explore the history behind Visalia’s storefronts and landmarks while uncovering the hidden gems that make downtown a vibrant centerpiece of the city. Whether you’re a longtime resident or a first-time visitor, you’ll see Visalia in a whole new light. Bring friends, family, and your walking shoes for a memorable day of discovery and connection.
Flicks & Flannels – Movie Night in the Park, Friday, November 14, 5 p.m., Whitendale Community Center & Park, 630 W. Beech Ave., Visalia
Enjoy free games, crafts, a Kids Zone, s’mores, and a cornhole tournament before settling in for an outdoor screening of How to Train Your Dragon (Live Action). Food trucks will be on site, and outside food is welcome (no alcohol permitted). It’s the perfect family night to celebrate fall under the stars!
