Cal Water Work Coming to Downtown
7.19.24
Travelers heading down Acequia Avenue, between Santa Fe Street and Edison Street, will experience traffic delays starting July 22nd as California Water Service Company performs water pipeline replacements for existing infrastructure.
"This work is necessary to ensure parcels in the area have up to date water services,” shares Orlando Rosales, City of Visalia Engineering Technician “Improvements such as these are routine and part of the process for an area that has yet to be updated.”
During the weekday hours of 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., drivers on Acequia Avenue and Burke Street will be guided through the work zone by flagmen stationed at each end of the work zone.
Both northbound and southbound traffic on Clark Street, Bradley Street, Oakhurst Street and Edison Street will be detoured utilizing the nearest local road.
The road closures will be staggered, in order to provide short detours to nearby businesses or residences. Mineral King Avenue will experience minimal impacts between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. throughout the duration of the work.
Outside those workday hours and on the weekend, Acequia Avenue and the adjacent streets will be opened to through traffic. Access for businesses and emergency services will remain intact for the entire duration of the project.
“To avoid any travel delays, we recommend seeking an alternate route during the scheduled work,” added Rosales. “For those unable to avoid the work area, we urge motorists to use caution when driving near the construction and to remember to always slow for the cone zone.”
