Help Identify Barriers to Fair Housing

4.30.24

Can you help the City of Visalia identify impediments to Fair Housing Choice?

Fair housing choice means that residents have the necessary information, opportunity, and options to live where they choose without unlawful discrimination (Housing and Urban Development).

As a recipient of Community Developoment Block Grant (CDBG) funds, the City of Visalia must affirmatively further fair housing and ultimately prepare an Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice, as a requirement of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974.

Formally called an "Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice," the information gathered will ultimately be included as part of an internal analysis of factors that may be potentially preventing access to fair housing choice in the community.

Understanding the impediments to fair housing choice is an important step in addressing housing needs.
