Arrest Made in 4th of July Death
On July 4th, 2019 at approximately 9:30 PM, officers from the Visalia Police Department observed a structure fire occurring on the 1100 block of N. Stover.
"Members of the Visalia Fire Department responded and were able to extinguish the fire," stated Sergeant Gary Williams, Visalia Police Department. "Based on preliminary investigation, it was discovered that the fire was the result of illegal fireworks that had ignited a tree on fire. This fire subsequently spread to the residence at 1108 N. Stover."
The occupant of the residence, Ramon Fierro, died inside the residence.
Detectives from the Visalia Police Department Violent Crimes Unit and investigators from the Visalia Fire Department and Tulare City Fire Department responded to the scene and begin their investigation.
"During the course of the investigation, detectives were able to identify Armando Camacho as having ignited the fireworks that led to the tree and residence catching fire," added Williams.
On July 9th, 2019 at approximately 9:15 a.m. detectives from the Visalia Police Department Violent Crimes Unit and Property Crimes Unit conducted a search warrant at the residence belonging to Armando Camacho, located on the 1100 block of N. Stover.
During the course of this search warrant, evidence was located that corroborated Armando Camacho's involvement. The Visalia Police Department Crime Lab and a Visalia Fire Department Investigator were also called to assist in processing physical evidence located on the street and near the decedent’s residence.
Added Williams, "As a result of this investigation, Armando Camacho was arrested for Involuntary Manslaughter and Arson Resulting in Great Bodily Injury/Death."
