Traffic Detour In Place At Plaza Drive
Plaza Drive will be closed to through-traffic on Friday, March 8, 2019 between Ferguson and Goshen Avenues.
“This closure is necessary to repair the railroad crossing on Plaza Drive that has developed into a traffic safety hazard,” shared Nick Mascia, Community Development Director. “Local access to all businesses will still be available via the posted detour route consisting of Riggin Avenue, Shirk Street, and Goshen Avenue.”
San Joaquin Valley Railroad Company will be making the repairs and has asked the City to assist in providing the needed traffic detours and to provide notice to the community.
Foregoing any unforeseen conditions, the work is expected to be completed by end of day Friday.
“We’re asking motorists to follow all traffic control signs and warnings,” added Mascia. “Updates on the work will be provided should the work extend beyond Friday. We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation while we assist the Railroad in making these needed repairs.”
Additionally, the City of Visalia is diligently working with the San Joaquin Valley Railroad Company to develop a work plan to improve the drive surface and ride quality over the railroad track crossing on Akers Street. Information will be forthcoming once that work has been scheduled to begin.
