Traffic Signal Installations Coming

Traffic signals will be installed at the intersection of County Center Street and Houston Avenue and at the intersection of Mooney Boulevard and Riggin Avenue. The work includes pedestrian crossings, pedestrian ramps, and minor roadway improvements.

“Work is going on now at the intersection of County Center Street and Houston Avenue,” shared Sergio Alvarado, Associate Engineer, City of Visalia Engineering Department. “Construction of the signal at the intersection of Mooney Boulevard and Riggin Avenue will start on March 11th. Both traffic signal installations are scheduled to be completed by July 2019.”

Minor traffic delays will occur during the construction process and motorists are asked to exercise caution and slow for the cone zone. Each signalized intersection will be constructed by a separate contractor.

The temporary traffic signals that are currently operating at the intersection of County Center Street and Houston Avenue will be relocated to the intersection of Giddings Street and Riggin Avenue after the construction is completed at County Center Street and Houston Avenue. The temporary traffic signal will remain at Giddings Street and Riggin Avenue until the permanent traffic signal is constructed.

“The next intersections planned to have a traffic signal constructed are County Center Street at Riggin Avenue, Giddings Street at Riggin Avenue, Mooney Boulevard at Ferguson Avenue, Cameron Avenue at West Street, and Shirk Street at Walnut Avenue,” added Alvarado.
