Measure N Street Work Going On Now

As part of the City’s annual Measure N Street Maintenance Program, various streets in the southwestern quadrant of the City have been scheduled to receive crack sealing.

“This road improvement work is made possible by Visalians through Measure N,” shared Norm Goldstrom, City of Visalia Public Works Manager. “Thanks to residents, we’re able to perform this street maintenance work over the next month, during the week days from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.  No weekend work is anticipated.”

No streets will be closed due to the work, but crews will flag residential traffic around the moving work zones.

“There will be three crews working, a traffic control/notification crew, a crack preparation crew and a crack sealing crew,” added Goldstrom. “Cracks in the road will be blown out with an air compressor and lance, then sealed with a hot asphalt pot and wand. The hot sealant dries within minutes and can then be driven over without issue.”

“No Parking” signs will be placed along the street approximately 72 hours prior to the start of work and will include the specific dates and times that parking will be restricted. Refuse, recycling and green waste collection will not be impacted, residents are asked to roll out their bins as usual.

The road maintenance project schedule is:
  • Week 1: Starts on 1/28/19, residential streets between Mooney Boulevard and Akers Road, and between Caldwell Ave on the south and Noble Ave on the north.
  • Week 2: Starts on 2/4/19, residential streets between Demaree Street and Shirk Road, and between Caldwell Avenue on the south and Noble Avenue on the north.
  • Week 3: Starts on 2/11/19, residential streets between Mooney Boulevard and Demaree Street, Akers Road to Shirk Road, and between Caldwell Avenue on the south and Noble Avenue on the north.
Public Safety will have emergency access to the roadway and nearby residents and businesses will have local access to their properties while the work is in progress. Weekly street lists and corresponding maps are available online at
