VFD Hosts Community Pancake Breakfast

2019 year marks the 150th Anniversary of the Visalia Fire Department. Formed in 1869, Visalia Fire is one of the oldest fire departments in the state of California.

“To celebrate this historic milestone, the Visalia Fire Department has been the recipient of a proclamation from our Visalia City Council honoring 150 years of service and we’re kicking off the year-long celebration with a community pancake breakfast on Saturday, February 23rd,” shared Doug McBee, Visalia Fire Chief. “We look forward to welcoming everyone to our pancake breakfast at Station 51 as it will be the first of many celebrations we host this year.”

Open to the public, the Community Pancake Breakfast will take place from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 23rd at Station 51, located at 309 S. Johnson Street. All ages are welcome to attend, enjoy breakfast and meet the men and women of Visalia Fire.

“I’m incredibly proud of the Visalia Fire Department (VFD) team. I’ve never worked with a more dedicated, caring and knowledgeable group of professional firefighters,” added McBee. “The entire staff of VFD is truly here to serve and I am honored and fortunate to be the Fire Chief of our department at this historic time.”

Today the VFD serves from six fire stations and seven first line fire apparatus that consist of five fire engines and two aerial apparatus. Twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, Visalia Fire provides “all risk” service to approximately 136,500 residents covering over 40 square miles.

The VFD is currently is comprised of 82 dedicated members who strive to provide excellent service to the community.
