Council Votes In Support of Water Act
The Visalia City Council voted to support California's Proposition 3, the "Water Supply and Water Quality Act of 2018" at last night's Council meeting.
Motioned by Council Member Greg Collins with a second by Council Member Steve Nelsen, the Council voted 4-0 (Gubler absent) to approve Resolution 2018-48 in support of Prop 3.
Resolution 2018-48 states in part:
"The Water Supply and Water Quality Act includes important funding for Sustainable Groundwater Management Act implementation, storm-water treatment, wastewater recycling, watershed restoration, water conservation, infrastructure repair, in addition to other funds of importance to our city and other local agencies."
The fiscal impact directly to Visalia if Prop 3 were to pass is currently unknown, but it's passage could provide significant grant opportunities.
Per the Resolution, "These grant funds would result in significant cost savings for cities and ratepayers, healthier watersheds, and improvements in both water supply and quality for urban areas."
The Water Supply and Water Quality Act of 2018 will appear as Proposition 3 on California’s November 6th ballot.
