Summertime means picnics with family and friends creating memories that will last a lifetime and of course, lots of fun activities hosted by the City of Visalia’s Parks and Recreation Department.
Cool off during our Dive-In Movies events! Don't miss the final two events of the season on Saturday, July 15th (Moana) and Saturday, July 22nd (Finding Dory). Dive-In Movies takes place at the Mt. Whitney High School Pool, located at 900 S. Conyer Street. This event offers guests the opportunity to stay cool with a dip in the pool and then dry off to enjoy a family-friendly movie screened on the lawn near the pool.
Swim time starts at 6:30 p.m. Movies will start at approximately 8:30 p.m. Participants are also encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and snacks to enhance their movie viewing experience. Alcohol is not allowed at this event. Special thanks to the Tulare County Summer Night Lights program for sponsoring the FREE movie nights on the 22nd. Admission for the other nights is just $1.50 per person.
Grab the kids, grab the fishing poles and the bait and head on down to the Annual Summer Catfish Derby on Saturday, July 22nd from 8 am to 10 am at Plaza Park Pond.
This competitive fishing derby is for youth ages 3 to 15 and participants will be divided into two age categories with prizes going to the top three total stringer weights in each category.
All participants will be placed in a drawing for the chance to win cool fishing prizes!
Cost is just $7 in advance or $10 day of the event as space allows. Limited space is available, so register early as you don’t’ want to miss this great event!
