Interactive Maps Get New Look

With a change in software, the City’s GIS Division presents new interactive, and more intuitive maps through the Public Web GIS Portal online.

With four maps currently hosted, users can choose from 1) Public Works Services Days 2) Public Information Map 3) FEMA Flood Zone Map and 4) Crime Map and enter their address for details.

With the Public Works Service Days and the FEMA Flood Zone Map, the user can search for their desired address then click on or around that location on the map and their location information is returned via a pop-up window.

The Crime Map has been given a new look and allows the user to select a date range and then select “Type of Crime” from the drop-down menu. The Crime Map represents statistics by geographic area for reported crimes as compiled by the Visalia Police Department, results do not give a precise location of any crime to retain anonymity.

Last but not least, the City’s Public Information Map allows users to view parcel, zoning and other city information on the web.

The interactive maps are designed to run on a variety of platforms and is supported by most browsers. For questions or comments, email
