Fire Department Battles Church Blaze
This morning the Visalia Fire Department was dispatched to a commercial structure fire located at 2800 W. Walnut Ave, Heart of the Valley Church.
After noticing smoke coming from what appeared to the AC unit, a motorist driving by called 911. Once on the scene, personnel reported they had a working fire on the east side of the church in the dinning/kitchen area. Fire crews made entry into the building and began firefighting operations making an aggressive fire attack, substantially limiting damage. The fire was brought under control in less than 20 minutes.
The church was unoccupied at the time of the fire, no injuries to civilians or firefighters occurred.
Three fire engines, one fire truck, two battalion chiefs and two fire arson investigators responded to the fire for a total of 16 fire personnel. Southern California Edison and the Gas Company responded and assisted with securing utilities.
The property value of the church facility has been approximated to be $2.5 million dollars. It is estimated that there was $30,000 dollars in damage to the structure and $10,000 dollars in damage to the contents, with a total property saved of $2.1 million.
The fire is still under investigation by Visalia Fire Department Arson Investigators.
