Visalia Named in "Cities of Honor"
Today the 144th Fighter Wing of the California Air National Guard honored the City of Visalia by unveiling an F-15 Eagle with the City of Visalia seal on the nose.
The Wing's “Cities of Honor” program honors the city of Visalia and its citizens and Mayor Warren Gubler and Vice Mayor Bob Link were in attendance to receive the honor.
“We are a community-based organization; the Cities of Honor program forms a connection with the local communities that our Airmen live and work in,” said Col. Drake. “It’s a way to thank the local community for all the support they give us.”
The Wing dedicated the first of its F-15 Eagles April 18, 2014 during a ceremony that paid tribute to the city of Madera for its support to the Wing.
Visalia's is the tenth “Cities of Honor” ceremony, additional honors are planned by the Wing for future Central Valley cities.
