City Council Seeks Local Community Organization
The Visalia City Council is seeking a local community organization to host a fireworks show at Groppetti Stadium on July 4, 2017.
The City Council is offering to assist in bringing a 4th of July fireworks show by providing assistance, such as $10,000 in annual funding, a one-time, first year only $10,000 bonus and free use of Groppetti Stadium for the event.
"A Visalia fireworks show is as all-American as motherhood and apple pie," shared Mayor Warren Gubler. "I am hopeful that this event will be a Visalia tradition that can be brought back as a successful community event that will bring our citizens together to celebrate the birth of our country, and provide a great opportunity for a local community organization."
The host organization will receive all proceeds from the event and technical assistance in planning from City departments. In exchange, the host organization would agree to provide a 20-minute fireworks show at Groppetti Stadium on July 4, 2017, including insurance, funding for the full cost of the event above the City's donation and accept the designation as host of the event, with the intent of continuing the event in future years.
To express interest in being selected as the local community organization to sponsor this fireworks celebration in Visalia, submit a letter of interest to City of Visalia Fireworks Proposal, 220 N. Santa Fe, Visalia, CA 93292 no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8.
Letters should contain the local community organizations previous experience in organizing and funding events, the number of volunteers available for the event, and explain how insurance would be secured for the event. Letters of interest will be assessed and interviews held as appropriate with a goal of selecting a local community organization by March 20, 2017.
