Letter from the City Manager on Upcoming Elections

Dear Community Member,

As you are aware, Election Day is on November 8th, and the ballot will be very long this year.  Apart from the Presidential election, and the state and federal races, there will be 17 state propositions.  Locally, the City of Visalia will conduct its first district elections for the City Council offices, in addition to ballot Measure N. Don’t know what Council district you are in? Visit Visalia voters living in Districts 1 and 2 will select Council members this November, Districts 3, 4 and 5 will vote for Council members in November 2018.

I would like to call your attention to key dates for this year’s election:
Last day to register to vote is October 24th: You may find voter registration forms at your neighborhood Post Office or at City Hall.  Also, you can register to vote online at the Tulare County Registrar of Voters at or at
Last day to request a mail-in ballot is November 1st: Should you wish to vote by absentee ballot, the last day to request an application is Tuesday, November 1st

Last day to vote by mail is November 8th: A completed ballot may be mailed at any Post Office or saved until Election Day and dropped off at any polling location. All ballots must be post marked by November 8th in order to be counted, I’d advise absentee voters to note the last pick up time on your Post Office box of choice.

Election Day!  Polls open at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, November 8th and close at 8 p.m.  Should you wish to find you polling location, visit the Tulare County Registrar of Voters online at or call (559) 624-7300.

This year there are many items on the ballot, I hope all voters read the sample ballot and make an informed decision before casting their vote.
