Thanks to the work done creating connections for Visalians through trails and transportation, the City was honored with two 2016 Local Motion Awards.
The Tulare County Association of Governments (TCAG) held the 5th Annual Local Motion Awards on Wednesday, January 28th and with tough competition from competing agencies, Visalia topped two awards categories.
Winning the award for the Bike/Pedestrian Project was the Modoc Ditch Trail Project. The Modoc Ditch Project connects Fairview Park and Fairview Elementary School with trail system access to both Riverbend Park and Summers Park.
The Modoc Ditch project includes a 0.63 miles of Class 1 multi-purpose trail along the Modoc Ditch channel and landscaped in accordance with the Great Valley Oak Riparian Forest Design.
Best Transit Project county-wide went to Transit’s V-LINE. Launched in November of last year, the V-LINE shuttle provides service from Visalia to Fresno, while featuring free WiFi, USB charging ports, storage racks and wheelchair accessibility.
Leaving from the Visalia Transit Center, the V-LINE has stops at the Visalia Municipal Airport, Fresno Yosemite Airport and Fresno State University before returning on the same route back to Visalia.
