Big Winners at the Summer Catfish Derby

This past Saturday, July 11th, Visalia Parks & Recreation held their annual Summer Catfish Derby.

With a perfect sunny day, hundreds of children and their family and friends headed out to the Plaza Park Pond for a morning of fishing fun.

The big winners were:

3- 7 Age Category

  • 1st place went to Jazzenia Saechao, five years old with a 6lb. 15 oz. catch.
  • 2nd place went to Noah Villalpando, four years old, with a 4lb. 15 oz. catch.
  • 3rd place went to Evan Hogue, seven years old, with a 2lb. 13 oz. catch.

Largest Fish (by weight):      Evan Hogue                      2lb. 13oz.

Smallest Fish (by length):     Tanner Garnett                 10 inch.


8-15 Age Category

  • 1st place went to Aaleeya Montejano, 10 years old, with a 5lb. 7 oz. catch.
  • 2nd place went to Seth Russell, 11 years old, with a  5lb. 6 oz. catch.
  • 3rd place went to Kevin Jolly, 10 years old, with a  2lb. 15 oz. catch.

Largest Fish (by weight):     Kevin Jolly                      2lb.

Smallest Fish (by length):    Aaleeya Montejano        13.5 inch.
