Parks & Urban Forestry

The Parks & Urban Forestry Division administers the long-term urban forestry policies for the City and conducts plan review for all new development. It is guided by an overall vision to sustain and enhance a livable community with an extensive, thriving urban forest that provides multiple community benefits.

Animal Care Services

The Animal Services Division's goal is to ensure public health, safety and animal welfare in our community. Animal Services provides Animal Control of sick, injured, vicious and stray animals and operates the Visalia Animal Care Center, located at 29016 Highway 99. The state-of-the-art Animal Care Center houses animal control and animal shelter staff, and has the capacity for up to 200 animals at any one time and is the major holding facility for lost and stray pets in the area. Animal Services works with local non-profit and rescue organizations throughout the state to increase the save rate of incoming animals.

Facilities & Maintenance

The Facilities & Maintenance Division maintains all City owned facilities using in-house and contract maintenance and provides daily custodial services for all City buildings. In addition to facility maintenance, the division is responsible for programming and maintaining a Capital Budget for the replacement and upgrades of City facilities.
