Short-Term Rentals (STR)

The City recently adopted the Short-Term Rental Ordinance which requires all short-term rental operators within City limits to obtain a Short-Term Rental Permit and comply with the operating standards detailed in Visalia Municipal Code Section 17.32.166(B)(1) through (20).

What is a Short-Term Rental?

A short-term rental is a dwelling unit, or any portion thereof, utilized for residing, lodging, sleeping, or other occupancy purposes for less than thirty (30) days.

How do permits work?

All permits will originate through the City's Business Tax office, similar to Home Occupation permits, and require the application of a Business Tax Certificate.
