West Nile Virus Mosquito Abatement

Delta Vector Control District

The Delta Vector Control District provides mosquito abatement services to the Visalia area and reduces the risk of residents contracting mosquito borne diseases, including the West Nile Virus.

Some of the major contributors to mosquito breeding include stagnant water from gutters backed up with debris and swimming pools that are circulating poorly or not at all.

Visalia residents are urged to contact Delta Vector to report standing water that may harbor mosquito larvae.  Delta Vector may be reached online here or by calling 559-732-8606.

West Nile Virus Mosquito Abatement

The virus is transmitted by the bite of an infected mosquito. Symptoms from infection generally appear within 2-14 days after the bite of the mosquito.

Most people who are infected by the virus experience no symptoms or mild, flu-like symptoms. Those at higher risk of developing potentially serious conditions are the elderly and those with lowered immune systems.

Anyone who feels they may have symptoms due to WNV infection should contact their personal physician or local health department immediately for further advice.
