Dump On Us

    

The next Dump On Us event is scheduled for

SATURDAY, April 20, 2024 from 7a.m. to 12p.m.

The Dump On Us (D.O.U.) event is a recycling event that diverts at least 75% of materials dropped off from landfill. The City requests that all recyclable material listed below be held for the next Dump On Us event scheduled for Saturday, April 20, 2024.  The recyclable material includes but is not limited to:  mixed plastics (not Styrofoam), all types of metals, electronic waste, mattresses, tires (without rim), concrete, large appliances, and green waste/organic materials.

Dispose of unwanted items for FREE at the City of Visalia Dump On Us events.  We'll recycle everything possible and properly dispose of the rest.  All D.O.U. events are held at the Visalia City Yard located at 335 N. FREE COMPOST AVAILABLE
Visalia residents are invited to take compost with them for free during Dump On Us events.  Compost can help to prevent soil erosion, assists in Stormwater Management, promotes healthier plant growth, conserves water, reduces waste, and helps to combat climate change.  The processed compost material is generated from local businesses and residences and is being made available to Visalia residences that participate in a D.O.U. event. If you would like to take compost home with you for your yard/garden projects please plan to bring bags, shovels, etc. to collect your compost while supplies last (limit of one load per event).  For more information, please call 559-713-4532.    

Due to the overwhelming success of these events, please be prepared for wait times that could take up to 30 minutes. To help minimize delays, please review the Dump On Us flyer above for proper loading tips that will provide a faster more efficient unloading experience:

1. Be ready with City of Visalia utility bill to show proof of residency at entrance.

2. All loads must be covered pursuant to California State Law.

3. Doors must be removed from all large appliances.

4. Limited to 4 tires without rims per event.

5. Shredding services will be available, only two banker boxes (or comparable size) of documents per person. No commercial shredding available.

5. Household Hazardous Waste is accepted at all Dump On Us events. Gates close at noon during Dump On Us events.  

6. Limited to 5 mattresses per Dump On Us event.

7. All loads are subject to inspection.

Home-Generated Medical Sharps Program
Sharps Waste includes, but is not limited to, hypodermic needles, hypodermic syringes, blades, needles with attached tubing, syringes contaminated with biohazardous waste, and broken glass.  All sharps must be disposed of in an approved certified sharps containers.
