Industrial Park

Visalia General Plan Update Land use Diagram

The City of Visalia’s Central California location provides businesses with a tremendous advantage when it comes to manufacturing and distribution. With its close proximity to both State Highways 99 and 198, Visalia is nearly equal distance from the ports of San Francisco and Oakland to the north, as it is to Long Beach and San Pedro to the south making it the ideal location for corporations who do a large amount of business between these ports. This advantageous positioning has allowed a large number of companies to effectively ship to six states: California, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, and Arizona within one day primarily through Visalia’s UPS and FedEx facilities, the airport, trucking & by way of rail. Capitalizing on this strategic location, Visalia has devoted more than 1,500 acres of the northwestern portion of the city to support industrial growth and employment. Geographically, the Visalia Industrial Park (VIP) is generally defined as extending from Shirk Street to State Highway 99 (east-west) and Riggin Avenue to Highway 198 (north-south).

Transportation improvements in and around the VIP have been made and more are underway with hundreds of millions of dollars invested. Highway 99 is being expanded from the Fresno County line to Visalia to support 3 lanes in each direction. Highway 198, between Visalia and Hanford is being expanded to support two lanes in each direction. The VIP is undergoing interchange improvements at Highway 198 heading northwest to Dinuba to support increased traffic. Betty Drive has been upgraded, as well as Riggin Road, to support easier access to Highway 99. These transportation improvements are making it easier for transport of goods and services and access by employees. Visalia's Industrial Park is the most successful and accessible industrial park between Fresno and Bakersfield.
