Fresh New Look for Senior Center
Sweat equity poured into improvements to the Visalia Senior Center. The fresh new look greets users to the Center the moment they step into the new lobby, pictured above. With close to $17,000 in contributions and product donations, along with help from church groups and local businesses for their community service projects, what a difference!
New features at the center located at 310 N. Locust St., include upgrades to the media lounge, patio, walkway and landscaping improvements with help from the Carpenter Family Children's Foundation, ornamental fencing through a Community Development Block Grant, and a mural for the dining room from unclaimed property funds.

Council makes room for commercial growth along North Dinuba corridor
The City Council approved all staff recommended land uses to accommodate future commercial growth along the North Dinuba Corridor.
In the preliminary draft General Plan Update, no additional commercial acreage was added along the corridor. There are currently 30 acres of undeveloped commercial land, the majority of which is at Orchard Walk West, south of the Riverway Sports Park on the west side of Dinuba Boulevard. There also is an opportunity for additional commercial land on un-annexed property east of Dinuba Boulevard across from the Sports Park.

Packwood Creek Trail Moves Ahead
The City Council awarded a construction contract for $362,481 to R.J. Berry Jr. Inc., for Packwood Creek Trail between Cameron and Caldwell avenues. In addition, up to nine solar lights will be added to the project with funding that is available for the project. The new 12-foot wide asphalt trail along the south side of Packwood Creek runs between the east end of the existing Packwood Creek Trail on the north side of Cameron to Caldwell.
The project is funded through grants from the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ program of the Federal Highway Administration and matching funds from Measure R. The trail will include signage, park benches, waste receptacles, dog mitt dispensers and solar lights. An engraved granite monument will be placed along the path on the east side as a memorial to the Chen family, who donated a portion of the land on the south side of Packwood Creek, east of the Stonebrook Street alignment.
Construction is planned to start at the end of April and be completed by the end of June. To view the presentation, click here.
