Splash Pads Oked
The Visalia City Council OKed splash pads planned for Recreation Park at the July 16 meeting. The Rotary Foundation has pledged $200,000 toward the $400,000 water feature (similar to the rendering above which omits a proposed fence to view the elements and the actual location would be closer to the park, away from the street). Additional funding will come from recreation facilities impact fees and grant monies. Several Rotarians recalled fond memories of the Plunge at Recreation Park, a built-in swimming pool filled in may years ago. It's estimated that more than $16,000 would be raised annually from charging the Rawhide baseball organization to use it during games, through party rentals, and by charging $1 to $2 per child during general public usage.
