Senior Games Week Named in Visalia

The Visalia City Council has named this week National Senior Games Week in Visalia as the City offers the seventh year of the Visalia Senior Games.

"Senior Games offer the camaraderie and challenge of competitive sports to older adults and promote health, well-being and active aging among participants," shared Mayor Brian Poochigian.

The Council was joined at the Monday, March 18 meeting by members of the Visalia Parks & Recreation Department and celebrated Visalia's seventh year of Senior Games.

March 18 through the 24 is National Senior Games Week not only in Visalia, but across California and the country, with programs celebrating the Olympic-style sports competitions for adults 50 and better.

Known as Senior Games, the Visalia Senior Games formally kicks off this Saturday, March 23 with the Disc Golf Tournament starting at 8:30 a.m. at Seven Oaks Park.

This year's Games also include:

Each event has a deadline to register approximately one week before the event date, late registration will be accepted as space allows.

Each Senior Games event has a Visalia Senior Games $15.00 registration fee and an event fee that varies per game.
