Join Us For Our Annual Arbor Day Event
Join us on Saturday, April 28th at 9 a.m. for the ceremony and stay for the planting project following the ceremony. The event will take place at the Mill Creek Trail (along Jennings Ditch-behind the VECC located at 420 N. Burke Street).
Arbor Day is a nationally celebrated observance that encourages tree planting and care. Founded by J. Sterling Morton in Nebraska in 1872, National Arbor Day is celebrated each year on the last Friday in April. The Visalia Parks and Recreation Department chooses a Saturday at the end of April to early May to celebrate Arbor Day in our area. Many other states celebrate Arbor Day at other times to coincide with their best tree planting weather.
