Canine Influenza Vaccination Available

Your Visalia Animal Care Center is now offering the canine influenza vaccination.

"We recommend this vaccination if your dog goes to the groomer, a boarding facility, dog parks, travel with you, or are exposed to other dogs," said Ivy Ruiz, Animal Services Supervisor.

The canine "flu shot" covers strains H3N8 and H3N2.

Aside from being around other dogs during professional grooming, dogs that travel with their human companions, are cared for in boarding facilities, play in dog parks or are exposed to other dogs are all candidates for the vaccination.

The vaccination is $20 per dog, no appointment is necessary.

"Walk-ins are welcome during our normal business hours," added Ruiz. "We hope dog owners take advantage of this opportunity so we can work to prevent the spread of the flu."

The Visalia Animal Care Center is located on 29016 Highway 99 and is open Wednesday through Friday from 12 - 6 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 12 - 5 p.m.
