FD Extinguishes Garage Fire

Yesterday evening, the Visalia Fire Department was dispatched to a  reported garage fire on the corner of Sweet and Turner in North Visalia.

"First arriving fire units found light to moderate smoke coming from the garage of the residence at North Turner," stated Battalion Chief Brian Adney. "All occupants were out of the home when firefighters arrived."

The fire was contained to the garage area; however, smoke from the fire filled the residence. Firefighters took aggressive action and were able to control the fire in approximately five minutes.

Gas and power to the home were shut off due to fire damage.

"The fire caused approximately $10,000.00 damage to the structure and contents, however, there were no injuries," added Adney.

The American Red Cross was utilized to provide temporary housing arrangements for the seven occupants and three dogs.

The cause of the fire appears to be accidental.
