A public reminder for all Business Owners, Business Tax Certificates expired on June 30, 2017.
Visalia Municipal Code states anyone conducting business within the City of Visalia must have a current Business Tax Certificate posted.
Payments must be submitted for July through December 2017 to Community Development's Business Tax Department by Monday, July 31st to avoid any penalties.
Who needs a Business Tax Certificate? Any person who conducts any business, trade, profession or occupation in the City of Visalia must first obtain a Business Tax Certificate as stated under Title 5 of the City of Visalia Municipal Code.
What is a Business Tax Certificate (also known as a Business License)? It is the physical documentation issued by the City of Visalia, verifying payment of tax and the tax period covered.
A Business Tax Certificate does not authorize any person to conduct any unlawful business or to conduct any lawful business in an illegal manner or to conduct the business without complying with all of the provisions of the ordinances of the City of Visalia, including but not limited to those requiring a permit from any board, commission, department, or office of the City.
