The City of Visalia has a strong history of promoting active transportation to its residents. The 2010 Waterways and Trails Master Plan and the City’s 2011 Bikeway Plan have been instrumental in the planning and financing of those improvements. In order to remain beneficial to the community, the City typically updates the bikeway plan every five years. Since it was last updated in 2011, it’s time to update the City’s bikeway
This year though, in order to be consistent with the current funding opportunities available, the City has decided to prepare its first ever Active Transportation Plan (ATP).
An ATP moves beyond just bicycle amenities, and strives to plan for and promote all forms of Active Transportation. Active Transportation includes any non-motorized form of transportation. Some examples of that include walking, bicycling, wheelchairs, skateboarding, rollerblading and more.
