A popular Visalia amenity continues to grow as the City’s trail system will be adding a new section of the Mill Creek Trail.
Starting construction on Monday, February 29th the work is scheduled to be completed by Friday, April 29th, 2016. This new segment of the Mill Creek Trail will extend the existing trail along Mill Creek, just east of Shirk Avenue ending at the Marcin Street alignment (east of Shirk Street).
The City Waterways & Trail system supports a healthy, active lifestyle while protecting and preserving open space for residents to enjoy. The new portion of Mill Creek Trail will be approximately 0.72 miles long.
Project funding was provided by a combination of Federal Highway Administration and Tulare County Measure R grants in an amount totaling $715,000. Due to project costs and the amount of funds available in any grant cycle, only segments of the overall trail can be constructed at any given time. The project was awarded to Avison Construction Inc. of Madera.
