The Visalia Senior Games Planning Task Force has named its presenting sponsor for the upcoming Visalia Senior Games and the region’s top healthcare organization secured the spot.
“We’re excited to be the principal sponsor of the Visalia Senior Games because we understand just how important remaining active, throughout one’s lifetime, is for a person’s overall health and well-being. This is particularly important during senior years,” said Lindsay Mann, chief executive officer of Kaweah Delta Health Care District, who along with his wife will participate in the Visalia Senior Games in tennis and pickleball.
“We encourage the entire community of seniors to participate because joining in these activities – whether in tennis, pickleball or softball – will help our seniors live active, better lives,” Mann said.
Kaweah Delta Health Care District is an eight-campus, 581-bed healthcare organization based in Visalia devoted to serving central California residents. The district serves the community by providing the community with areas of excellence which include cardiac services, orthopedics, surgical services and obstetrics. With an array of other services – physical therapy, cancer care, imaging, diabetes education and more, the district is committed to helping people live healthier lives.
The Visalia Senior Games, presented by Kaweah Delta Health Care District, is spearheaded by the City of Visalia Parks & Recreation Department. Coming to the Central Valley this October, the event will be central California’s first Senior Games. Visalia Senior Games is open to those ages 50 and better and will feature 11 age divisions for men and women in each event.
Under the umbrella of the National Senior Games Association and the California Senior Games Association, Visalia Senior Games will feature the sports of tennis, bowling, table tennis, pickleball, horseshoes, archery, golf, softball and a 5K and 10K road race.
As community support continues to grow, interested parties are invited to join the Visalia Senior Games Planning Task Force. The Task Force meets bi-weekly at the Visalia Senior Center, with the next meeting being held on Wednesday, August 5th at 5:30 p.m.
