Can two people apply using the same email address?

No. Each individual should have their own email address. If someone tries to apply using an email address that has already been used on an application, it will appear as if the first person applied. If you do not have an email address, you can get one at no cost through many different websites (i.e. Gmail, Yahoo, etc.).

Do I need an email address to apply to a City of Visalia job?

Do I need to submit an application for each position?

Yes. A separate application must be submitted for each position. Due to the large number of applications we receive, we are unable to carry over someone's application to another position.

How do I apply to the City of Visalia?

For all jobs (both full-time and hourly) you must apply online. Paper applications or resumes are not accepted at any of our City facilities. Visit www.visalia.city/careers for all job openings. 

How do I create an account to apply to a City of Visalia job?

I applied to a job already, when and how will I be notified for next steps?

After you have applied online, you will recieve a confirmation email that your application was submitted. A few weeks after the closing date, all applicants will be contacted via email by a Human Resources representative for next steps. 

I applied to a job with the City of Visalia and did not get it, when can I reapply for the same position?

You can reapply online within one year for the same position. However, you may apply at any time for a different position. 

I just received a job offer for the City of Visalia! Now what?

Congrats on joining the COV team! There are multiple steps that must be completed prior to your official first day:

  • You will have to complete two forms: Applicant Request to Release Information form and SSA-1945 form. These forms may have been signed at your interview or HR will contact you for preboarding.
  • Once you have completed both forms, HR will email you an itinerary of the date, time and location of your pre-employment appointments.
  • Each position requires both a medical and livescan.
  • For your medical appointment you must bring a valid ID, if you are a minor you must have a parent/guardian present.
  • For your Livescan you must bring the completed waiver (emailed prior to you by HR), a valid CA driver's license or ID, and if you are a minor a parent/guardian and completed parent/guardian waiver (emailed to you by HR). 
  • Your hiring is contingent on sucessful completion of both the Livescan and medical.
  • Once you have successfully cleared both the medical and the Livescan, the Department will contact you for a start date. You should not resign from your current position until you have the actual start date.
