The MS4 Permit
In order to reduce the impact of municipalities on the waterways of the United States, the EPA established the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System, or NPDES, permit program.
The MS4 Permit is one type of NPDES permit. In California, NPDES permits are administered by the 9 Regional Water Quality Control Boards as authorized by the EPA and the California State Water Resource Control Board. Click Here to visit the Water Board Municipal Stormwater Program page.
