Property Crimes Unit

The Visalia Police Department's Property Crimes Unit is comprised of one Sergeant, seven Detectives, & one Investigation Technician. 

The Property Crimes Unit is responsible for taking over an initial investigation begun by an officer in the Patrol Bureau.  The Unit will also analyze property crime trends and will conduct surveillance/special details to address these trends to attempt to apprehend individuals response for these crimes. Property Crimes Detectives are trained in interviewing techniques, surveillance, writing and serving search warrants, and the investigation of financial crimes.

The types of crimes the Property Crimes Unit investigates are:

    Auto Theft

    Burglary 
    (Vehicle, Residential, and Commercial)

    Check Fraud

    Credit Card Fraud

    Petty Theft
    (less than $950

    Grand Theft
    (great than $950)

    Embezzlement     

    Financial Elder Abuse

    Identity Theft

    Pawn Shops and Secondhand Dealers

     

    TULARE COUNTY REDUCE AUTO THEFT TASK FORCE (TRATT)

    In an attempt to protect the citizens of Visalia from auto theft, the Visalia Police Department is part of the Tulare County Reduce Auto Theft Task Force (TRATT).  TRATT is a multi-agency unit which includes the Visalia Police Department, the California Highway Patrol, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department, the Porterville Police Department, the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office, and the Department of Motor Vehicles.
