Crime Lab

The Visalia Police Department's Crime Lab is currently staffed by one Supervising Identification Technician, one Senior Identification Technician, two Identification Technicians, and five hourly positions.  The Crime Lab responds to major crime scenes or incidents where specialized services and/or equipment is needed.  One such piece of equipment is a Leica 3D ScanStation, which allows the Crime Lab to document a crime scene more efficiently and provide a high quality 3D data and HDR imaging. All digital photographs and recordings are maintained and processed by the Crime Lab.

The Crime Lab is also responsible for conducting fingerprinting analysis of evidence using modern techniques and equipment, which are often crucial in determining guilt or innocence.  The Crime Lab also manages public fingerprinting services including Live Scans and Registrants.

The Identification Technicians provide analysis and expert courtroom testimony for a variety of forensic disciplines including:

Crime Scene Processing & Reconstruction

Crime Scene Mapping

Crime Scene & Evidence Photography
