Heart Defibrillators (AED)

The American Heart Association has a goal of helping businesses and other facilities establish Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) programs to reduce the time to defibrillation and improve the cardiac arrest survival rate.

The City of
Visalia is an active participant and partner in the Heart Safe Community PAD Program, a robust AED program developed and directed by the Visalia Breakfast Rotary with contributions from community volunteers Dr. Cislowski, and Larraine McElroy, in conjunction with partners Kaweah Delta Health Care District, the City of Visalia, and the Visalia Unified School District.

Approximately, 90+ AED units have been placed in various public facitlities, schools, businesses, and populated areas throughout the City of Visalia as well as some surrounding areas. Each site equipped with an AED unit, has an assigned Site Coordinator and designated trained volunteer responder(s). The Visalia Fire Department oversees administration of the City’s AED program.
