City Recognized as 'Solar Roadmap Community': The City's efforts and participation in Southwest Solar Transformation Initiative Solar Roadmap Project has garnered recognition as a two-star "Solar Roadmap Community." The project is part of the U.S. Department of Energy's-funded Rooftop Solar Challenge, a program designed to spur solar market deployment by streamlining permitting processes and improving market conditions. Only three of the other 40 participating jurisdictions across six southwestern states have achieved this recognition. The City is situated in an excellent area for solar due to its above average solar energy resource, more than 10% greater than the national average.
